Nonlinear 3D finite element analysis of a shear-wave vibrator-ground interaction system

Shear-wave vibrator is a type of equipment usually employed for natural gas exploration, consisting vibrating machine which applies dynamic loads to the surrounding soils in order ease extraction gas. Detailed numerical simulations these devices are scarce literature. Thus, this paper, nonlinear 3D finite element simulation has been conducted investigate main features response vibrator. Nonlinear aspects such as baseplates-soil interaction, soil plasticity, and non-reflect boundary conditions, neglected previous simulations, considered model. The stress distribution, plastic deformation, shear wave propagation, ground force energy characteristics vibrator-ground system analyzed detail. Based on achieved results, an evaluation criterion developed quantify performance shear-wave Moreover, parametric analysis effects some parameters, excitation frequency, different properties embedded depth, discussed results can provide reference operating or optimizing design vibrators.
